Linda has 6 albums of music which include many original songs and has performed in Scotland, Australia, Europe and Canada. Based in Glasgow, she has worked with many excellent musicians, recording and has played numerous music café/bars and festivals.
She is renowned as a blues singer but also likes to work in and out of rock and country (with a little shadow of jazz – sometimes.)
If you have heard Linda Jaxson sing, you will recognise someone who sings close to the edge, while inviting you to share that experience.
Her influences are many and cross many genres: Joni Mitchell, Patti Smith, Rickie Lee Jones, Emmylou Harris to Leadbelly, Lightning Hopkins and Eric Bibb.
‘The Cellar’ is the first single from the newly remastered ‘Sirens’ album.
It is a dark tale of love/obsession and finally release?
Original lyrics and melody by Linda Jaxson
Bass line created by Steve Buchanan
Guitar intrigues – Vincinamata
Drums – Davie McDonald.
The ‘Sirens’ album was written during the years of lockdown when living near a hospital meant many sirens. In the Oedipus myth, sirens are beautiful singers who would lure sailors to their deaths with their ethereal voices but maybe what they heard was the whale sounds in the depths of the oceans?
The world as it is – sirens/alarm.
‘Sirens’ is a collection of songs that evoke different musical genres and ‘voices.
‘Sirens’ album will be officially launched with full band in early 2025.
